Since 2008, Arts for the Schools has been fortunate to have a permanent exhibition of student artwork generated from the Artist in Residence program. Come see the charming, thoughtful, and often whimsical interpretations of the same theme. Showcased artwork rotates periodically. Special thanks to the Town Council for supporting art education in our region.
Dragonfly, 10118 Donner Pass Road, Truckee
Starting summer 2011, Dragonfly Restaurant in downtown Truckee has generously donated a portion of the restaurant wall space for a permanent exhibition of rotating artwork generated from the Artist in Residence program. In addition, personal artwork created by the professional artists who teach our programs will be displayed as well. Many thanks to Dragonfly Owner and Chef, Billy McCullough, for providing this space for our local youth's artwork.
Truckee Donner Community Center 8924 Donner Pass Road, Truckee
Thanks to the foresight of designer Shelley McGinity working with Steve Randall on the finishing pieces to the new Community Center Arts For the Schools was given permanent space in one of the Center's wings to display student artwork. Special frames were created for easy rotation of artwork so It changes every few months - make sure to check it out! Special thanks to Steve Randall for providing this important opportunity for local youth.
Totems, Glenshire Clubhouse, Glenshire Drive, Truckee
Did you know that the Totems outside the Glenshire Clubhouse are an Artist in Residence installation project created for the Glenshire Trail Project by students in Nancy Lopez's 5th grade classes at Glenshire Elementary? Created in the fall of 2002 and installed in the fall of 2003 the Totems continue to delight hikers to this day.
